How your cyber security posture can generate more leads for your business

At first glance, cyber security and lead generation don’t seem interlinked. But being able to demonstrate a good cyber security posture could win your organisation business. One of the main factors in any purchase decision is trust. Your customers and clients need to trust in your skills and expertise, but also in your ability to keep their sensitive information safe. For example, organisations such as Yahoo and Equifax have lost the trust of millions of customers due to significant data breaches.

The introduction of GDPR has made data protection a more prevalent topic than ever. Both individuals and organisations are more aware of where their data exists and who has access to it, and they need to be confident it is being protected.

Keeping track of all the data your organisation holds and protecting it can be a challenge, particularly with the emergence of new threats all the time. IT teams need to be more agile and reactive than ever, and to do this effectively, need access to diverse threat intelligence feeds in order to keep up-to-date with the latest security risks. This can be difficult for an in-house IT team or Security Operations Centre, as they can only monitor their own environments and will not have the benefit of views across multiple organisations and systems.

An outsourced monitoring solution, such as MidGARD, has the advantage of accessing multiple intelligence feeds augmented by threat intelligence obtained from an extensive client base. It’s highly likely that organisations will be attacked using similar attack vectors, so this knowledge is crucial in helping other organisations detect threats early and avoid potential damage, such as a data breach.

Implementing a monitoring solution demonstrates to your customers and clients that you’re serious about cyber security and are dedicated to keeping their information safe, 24/7, 365 days a year. If it came down to a choice between your organisation with MidGARD and your competitor without MidGARD, you would come out on top. In fact, for some business opportunities, you’ll find that a certain level of IT security is a requirement and you’ll need to be able to prove your cyber security posture.

A 2017 report by Vodafone found correlation between business growth and a focus on cyber security. Commenting on the research Vodafone Group head of Enterprise Cyber Security Strategy and Innovation, Andrzej Kawalec said, “Cyber security has evolved beyond simple protection of the status quo and is being used by companies of all sizes to support and accelerate innovation and growth. It is giving businesses greater confidence in opening up new markets and introducing new services.”

It’s business 101; building more trust with your customers will lead to increased sales, and improving your cyber security posture is one way to do this. If you’d like to discover more ways that MidGARD can benefit your organisation, download our free guide here.
